Professional Court Videography takes more than just a camcorder

Court Videography, also known as video court reporting, is not only limited to courtrooms. The professional videographer is responsible for the process of recording video and images with advanced multimedia equipment that is later used for legal matters and court cases.

Documenting crime scene evidence, proof of damages, enhancing and cropping images, validating material, video synchronization and recording of court sessions – these are all the responsibilities of a professional court videographer.

Videographers also provide day-in-the-life movies and evidence of frauds, wills and pre-nuptial agreements.

Many videographers are not fully qualified and authorized – they are merely people with a camcorder. So if you are looking for a videographer you have to find a reliable professional that knows how to utilize the most innovative technologies.

For qualified court reporters and videographers visit www.veritext.com. Veritext.com is the one-stop source for all your Court Reporting, videography and Transcription needs. The court reporters of Veritext are currently available in New York, California, Florida, Chicago and other areas throughout the United States.

Videography is a great way to preserve the record. Most court reporting firms today have in-house legal video and some are venturing into the trial production arena.

The problem with these so-called legal videography courses such as CLVS they are set over 1 weekend and many people who take them are not from a video/film background.

It's best to hire video and film graduates who have 5-6 years of video and tech know-how. your CLVS camcorder cowboys will not be experienced enough when your camera or other equipment malfunctions or you hit a snag.

Court reporting and videography work hand in glove - most importantly, perhaps, is the ability to capture facial expressions, body language, tonality of speech and the like. For example, a joke may get lost in the black and white print of a transcript, but is made clear by watching the video. Videography is a great enhancement to any testimony given.

I never considered this job before but it sounds interesting. Not only would it be fun using multimedia equipment but it would also be interesting to be in different court hearings. I bet you would hear some interesting cases over the years.

I have never been in a courtroom before, but I would love to attend a hearing someday. I knew that they allowed camcorders in the room, but I didn't know how else they recorded things. It's so important I guess that they have a record of everything that happens in a case.
